Giants RB Cam Skattebo Issues Defiant Statement After Serious Injury
Cam Skattebo didn't waste time establishing himself as an impact player last season. He consistently contributed to the New York Giants and proved that he belonged in the NFL. The Arizona State product also made the teams that passed up on him during the 2025 NFL Draft regret their decision.
Skattebo was selected with the No. 105 pick in the fourth round. He gave Giants fans a lot to be optimistic about with his strong performances. However, the rookie suffered a setback in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles when he broke his ankle. The 24-year-old was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of 2025.
Skattebo remains in good spirits and he has made it clear that he plans to return in Week 1. He'll look to play even better and continue the strong start to his pro career.
The 2024 first-team All-American stressed on Wednesday that he doesn't plan to change how he plays. Skattebo defiantly added that he won't let his ankle injury slow him down in the future.
"It ain't gonna change who I am," Skattebo said. "I had an injury, you know, it is what it is. I've still got plenty of football left, plenty of life left, I'm not going to let this little ankle thing bother me.
"I'm going to get back [to] running people over like you see on the videos. It's going to be normal Cam Skattebo from here on out."
In 2025, he recorded 101 rushing attempts for 410 yards and five touchdowns. Skattebo also registered 24 receptions for 207 yards and two scores.
He is motivated to move past the gruesome injury he sustained and is ready to silence his doubters in the upcoming campaign. His redemption run will start on Sept. 13 against the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.
