British Soccer Fans Are Obsessing Over American Hot Dogs at World Cup
Many World Cup fans from Europe, Asia, South America, etc. are experiencing American culture - and American food - for the first time this month.
And they seem to be loving it.
North America is the official host of the 2026 World Cup. Games are being played in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The majority of the matches are being played in the United States, with New Jersey's Metlife Stadium serving as the venue for the championship match next month.
Millions of soccer fans from around the globe have traveled to the United States to watch their country compete on the global stage.
But while soccer is the main reason for the trip, global soccer fans are also making sure to enjoy American culture, like hot dogs.
In fact, many British soccer fans are "obsessing" over American hot dogs, which apparently can't be found in the United Kingdom.
'American food is insane'
British soccer fans, who watched their team dominate Croatia, 4-2, in a Group Stage victory on Wednesday, are loving hot dogs.
"American food is insane 🇺🇸 Tried a hot dog today (American delicacy) and oh my god. Why does the sausage taste so good. Anyone know if these are good for you because I want one every everyday now," Skylar Skye said.
Americans, meanwhile, are warning British soccer fans: Eat them at your own risk.
"It literally takes 1 day off of your life... but they are amazing," one fan joked.
"Lots of weird things go into making hot dogs. I have one a year at a baseball game," one fan added.
Skye and others, though, are not letting this stop them.
"One a year? I'm about to have one a day," she responded.
The 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup, meanwhile, will continue throughout the day on Thursday and Friday.
