World Cup Fans Are Already 'Fed Up' With Alexi Lalas

The 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup is less than a week old and most fans already seem to be done with Alexi Lalas.

Lalas, 56, is a former member of the U.S. men's national team. He played in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups. Lalas has since gotten into sports media, becoming one of the leading voices of soccer coverage in the United States.

But Lalas has a polarizing personality. Some enjoy him, while many are annoyed by him. It sounds like more fans are in the latter camp - at least at the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Fans have been flooding social media to complain about Lalas' commentary during the first week of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

"So fed up with him already," one fan wrote.

"On of the unexpected joys of this World Cup has been watching the real time destruction and decline of @AlexiLalas . Much like his orange cheeto hero, he will soon be completely irrelevant. Can't happen fast enough," one fan wrote.

"Stephen A and Alexi Lalas in a competition for who can be more insufferable and make America look worse on the world stage," another fan added.

"The dynamic between Henry, Zlatan, and Alexi Lalas is a WILD watch. Lalas spews awful analysis (always has) but delivers it with the confidence of a great, without the acumen Zlatan is in a world of his own confidence-wise and Henry clearly has no respect for either of the other's opinions. No chemistry, tons of ego, 10/10," one fan added.

Lalas' co-workers seem to be getting annoyed, too

Lalas, who is working alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thierre Henry, appears to be irking his on-set colleagues in quite a way, too.

After hearing some of Lalas' criticism of France during their opening game win on Tuesday, Ibrahimovic responded in brutally honest fashion.

"It's not arrogance, it's confidence. Ignorant people call it arrogance, intelligent people say it's confidence," he said.

The 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup is still in its early stages, but already, Lalas appears to be irking his fans - and his coworkers - in a pretty blatant way.
