LeBron Sounds Clueless With Comment On Stay-At-Home Women
LeBron James is facing backlash for his comment on stay-at-home women.
The four-time NBA champion appeared on the "Everybody's Crazy" podcast, featuring his longtime wife, Savannah James, last fall. Comments made on the podcast have resurfaced on social media this week. James took some shots at stay-at-home women during the episode.
James made it clear that he couldn't be with a stay-at-home woman.
"I think personally me today, if I was not in a relationship, I could not have a stay at home woman," he said.
"For me, who I am at 40 and what I got going on, just coming home and seeing somebody sitting on the couch every day just chilling, that wouldn't float for me."
Stay-at-home moms, of course, don't just sit on the couch all day. Perhaps that's not who LeBron was talking about - maybe some children-less wives or girlfriends do just 'stay at home' all day.
But fans are taking his comments as a shot at stay-at-home moms, which they do not agree with.
Fans take issue with LeBron's stay-at-home women comment
Fans are making it clear that "stay-at-home" moms do a heck of a lot more than just sit on the couch all day.
"He's saying that, because any woman he dates is not doing laundry, dishes, cleaning bathrooms, floors etc all day. He hires people to do those things. Normal stay at home wives don't sit on the couch all day. They're doing housework. What an out of touch opinion," one fan said.
"Hahaha stay at home Mums don't sit on the couch all day," one fan added.
"People think that because someone is famous or successful in something, they are automatically worth listening to. That's what floats his boat, no doubt, but that doesn't mean anything else to anyone else. Stay-at-home moms don't sit on the couch every day doing nothing. They run the home, raise the kids, ensure the kids feel a parent's presence whenever they are at home, and do several other very important things that help keep a home going. They educate themselves to be able to advise their husbands and generally support them in countless ways. Reducing that to just sitting on the couch is quite disrespectful to these very powerful women," one fan added.
"My wife was a stay-at-home Mom for 15 years - most days, I would come home, and she would be draped over the couch, absolutely exhausted - definitely not 'chillin'. Bro, what's he on about?" one fan added.
"My Advice is for yall to stop living in the 50s and teach your kids that it's ok to be clean and clean up after themselves the way my TODDLERS learned back in the day…very very easy to keep a house clean as a clean person who can actually control their kids.." another fan pointed out.
