Kate Martin's Heartfelt Message for Valkyries Fans in Ballhalla Return
Kate Martin returned for the first time at Ballhalla, also known as Chase Center, as a member of the Los Angeles Sparks. She shared a heartfelt message for fans who cheered for her last season while she was still with the Golden State Valkyries.
Martin was part of the Valkyries' inaugural season roster in 2025. She played in 42 games, including two starts, averaging 4.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 11.9 minutes. However, the team waived Martin on May 7, and she signed a developmental contract with Los Angeles three days later.
Martin expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play for Golden State. She also shared how much appreciation she has for the fans.
"Just thank you for embracing me," Martin said. "Thank you for the last year and for what you're doing for women's basketball in general.
"It's a lot bigger than just supporting the Valkyries. It's really impressive to see what they're doing to uplift women's basketball and women's sports in general in this area. It's super impressive. It's just really good for our game."

Martin played 11 minutes on Monday, finishing with three points, three rebounds, and two assists. Rae Burrell and Cameron Brink led the way for the Sparks with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
However, it wasn't enough for them to secure a win as the Valkyries dominated, 78-58. Four Golden State players scored in double digits, including Gabby Williams' game-high 16 points.
Martin and Los Angeles will return home for a two-game homestand against the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty. The Valkyries, on the other hand, will host the Dallas Wings on Wednesday and the Lynx on Friday.
