Memphis Depay's Parents and Background
Memphis Depay was born on February 13, 1994, in Moordrecht, Netherlands.
His father, Dennis Depay, is Ghanaian and comes from Kumasi. According to Depay, his father left the family when he was around four years old, which led to a difficult relationship during his childhood and teenage years.
His mother, Cora Schensema, is Dutch and raised him largely as a single parent. Depay has often spoken about the important role his mother played in his upbringing and football journey.
For many years, the Netherlands international chose not to use Depay on the back of his jersey because of the strained relationship with his father. Instead, he preferred to be known simply as Memphis.
After moving to Brazil to join Corinthians, reports suggested that Dennis visited the forward there. The pair spent time together and reconnected, finding common ground through the similarities between Brazilian culture and their Ghanaian roots.
Memphis Depay's Relationship Status
As per information available, Memphis Depay is not married and does not have a wife.
The Dutch forward has kept his personal life largely private in recent years although he was previously engaged to model Lori Harvey, the stepdaughter of television host Steve Harvey, in 2017. However, the couple ended their relationship in 2018.
