Indiana Fever Announce Sophie Cunningham News on Saturday
The Indiana Fever are beginning to look like title contenders after a shaky start to the 2026 season. Thursday's 114-106 overtime victory over the Chicago Sky improved Indiana to 7-5 and gave the team consecutive wins for the first time in nearly three weeks.
With the Fever finding their form, they enter Saturday's road game against the Connecticut Sun hoping to secure a third straight win for the first time this season.
As encouraging as the recent results have been, Indiana has also been managing some injuries on its roster. On Thursday, veteran guard Sophie Cunningham was forced to miss the first game of her season because of a right elbow injury. Cunningham had initially been listed as questionable before ultimately being ruled out against Chicago.
After the game, head coach Stephanie White was asked whether Cunningham's injury could lead to a multi-game absence, but declined to put a timeline on it.
However, on Saturday, Fever fans received good news as the team announced that Cunningham is available for their Commissioner's Cup matchup against Connecticut. The Fever also cleared Caitlin Clark to play after she was initially listed as probable on Friday.

Through 11 games this season, Cunningham is averaging 8.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 45.6% from the field.
Cunningham's best performance of the season came in Indiana's victory over the Seattle Storm, when she scored a season-high 17 points off the bench.
Saturday's matchup against the Sun tips off at 6:00 p.m. ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. Indiana enters the contest as one of the hotter teams in the WNBA, while Connecticut (2-15) hold the league's worst record.
