Wilson, 24, has been on the shelf for the A's since May 11 with a left shoulder injury and most recently appeared in a rehab game for Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Prior to landing on the shelf, Wilson was slashing .292/.311/.398 with three home runs, 19 RBI and an OPS of .709 in 39 games. The 24-year-old was also selected to his first All-Star Game last year after posting the third best batting average in Major League Baseball at .311 with 13 homers and 63 RBI in 125 games.
The Athletics are now slated to get back their exciting young infielder after a month on the IL.
As for Rooker, his move to the IL comes after he did not play during the A's series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers due to what was initially being called right knee soreness. The DH has struggled this season, batting just .200/.311/.398 with 10 long balls, 29 RBI and a .670 OPS in 48 games.
The Athletics are now expected to go through a rotating number of options at the DH position with Rooker out for the time being. They begin Friday in third place in the weak American League West at 33-35 and are just two games out of first place. The A's are just one game back of the third and final AL Wild Card spot.
The A's are also continuing their six-game stint of their Las Vegas series with a three-game set this weekend against the aforementioned Rockies.
