NBA Reaches Decision on Jalen Brunson Fan Incident at NBA Finals: Report
The NBA has reportedly reached its decision after New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson reported a courtside fan to referee Scott Foster for harassment during Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
During the game, Brunson was reportedly being harassed by a fan in a vulgar way, prompting the Knicks star, who seemed visibly frustrated, to inform Foster during a postgame conversation.
Brunson didn’t elaborate on what occurred during any of his postgame interviews or in interviews ahead of Game 2 in San Antonio. Still, various online reports suggested the fan was heckling him about “flopping.”
The two-time All-Star scored 30 points, to go with three rebounds and two assists, in his team’s 105-95 win. During the game, he also received four free-throw attempts, but several times he landed on the court, complaining to the referees about uncalled fouls.

On Friday, ahead of Game 2, The New York Post’s Stefan Bondy reported that an NBA spokesperson told the Post that the fan can still attend games but is not “permitted to sit in courtside seats.”
It was one of several fan incidents that arose during the first game between the Spurs and Knicks. Another occurred in the game’s fourth quarter, with 6:28 remaining, when a fan ran onto the court.
That fan attempted to take a selfie with Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama, but was on the court for only a brief moment before security apprehended the fan. The individual was arrested, and the NBA later banned him from attending any future games.

Despite the fan harassing Brunson during Game 1, the Knicks star had plenty of fans from back home there to root him on, including Knicks celebrity fans like Timothee Chalamet, Tracy Morgan, and Ben Stiller.
That large group of fans rooting for the team and showing support in the crowd likely helped Brunson and his teammates feel they weren’t all that far from NYC’s Madison Square Garden.
Meanwhile, San Antonio will look to even the series after falling behind 1-0 in the best-of-seven series. After Game 1’s fan incidents, one has to think there couldn’t be anything like those distractions in the rest of these games.
Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs occurs Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
