Caitlin Clark Wants Critics To 'Be Quiet' After Fever's Statement Win
The Indiana Fever notched a vital win on Thursday, taking down the visiting Atlanta Dream in an 83-71 win. Caitlin Clark had 17 points and a game-leading eight assists in the victory. Afterwards, she had a message for her critics.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Clark was asked what a win like that would do for the team's morale. Clark replied that she hopes it silences the critics and shows that "the sky is not falling."
"I'm gonna say this in the nicest way possible, but hopefully it makes a lot of people just be quiet. I know there's always going to be conversation, and I totally respect that, and I always understand that, but the sky is not falling," Clark said.
"Shut the Noise Off"
Fans of Clark were happy to hear her give that message, expressing on social media just how tired they've gotten of seeing people complain after less than 10 games.
"You can see the leadership growing in her in real time, and it's a beautiful thing," one user wrote on X.
"She's crystal clear-again. I hope people listen to HER, and not to the noise. Shut the noise off so you can enjoy the season," wrote another.
"She's directing that at a lot of people. For sure Fever fans but also saying to the legion of CC haters that rumors of the Fever's demise have been drastically (and enthusiastically) overstated so pipe down," a third remarked.
"She always knows what to say. Great take on the noise."
At 5-4 on the season, the Fever are right in the middle of the pack as the quarter mark of the WNBA season approaches. That's plenty of time for the Fever to both figure out what adjustments to make and whether there are positions that need to be outright retooled.
Fans can complain about the Fever trying to phase Clark out to trade her all they want. As long as the team is in playoff contention, she isn't going anywhere.
