Anacortes American Boys Athlete of the Week: Dylan Rowell

Dylan Rowell won four state track and field titles at the Class 2A State Championships on May 28-30.

The senior distance runner won three individual events - all in Class 2A state meet-record times - and ran a leg on the winning 1,600-meter relay team.

Rowell won the 800 (1 minute, 51.45 seconds), the 1,600 (4:03.65) and 3,200 (8:50.12).

His 1,600 time was also a state meet record across all classifications, and the 1,600 relay team set a meet record.

"Few athletes have ever delivered a state championship performance as dominant as Dylan Rowell's," Anacortes coach Brad Templeton said.
