Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Admits He Left Bears Game Early

Just because it's common for people to leave NFL games early to beat the traffic, it doesn't make it okay to admit something like that in public. And when you're the mayor of the team's city, doing so can be considered downright treacherous.

But that didn't stop Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson from admitting to such on a recent appearance on 104.3 The Score in Chicago. While discussing issues with the stadium, he admitted that he decided to leave a Bears-Packers game at Soldier Field early when the Bears were losing and it took him so long to get out that by the time he reached his car, the Bears had come back to win the game.

"Getting in and out of Soldier Field is an absolute nightmare," Johnson said. "Let me tell you how bad it is. Bears vs. Packers; I'm at the game; we're losing. I decide to leave to beat the traffic. Before I get out of the footprint, the Bears had come back to win."

"Grounds For Impeachment"

Bears fans were not at all amused by Mayor Johnson's assertion that he left the game early. Some asserted on X that it signifies he isn't a true Bears fan at all while others declared that it's grounds for his removal from office.

"The bigger issue is our mayor is leaving before the game ends. Dude does not know ball whatsoever," one fan declared.

"Leaving to 'beat traffic' means you were never a fan to begin with. Sick of this fool acting like he is a representative for DA BEARS," wrote another.

"Did this idiot just admit to leaving a bears packers game early so he can beat traffic? All his brain must be in his fohawk..." a third wrote.

"Maybe he'll leave his term early, too."

"Leaving a Bears/Packers game early is grounds for impeachment."

"You would have to waterboard me to get me to admit I left that game early. Otherwise, I'm taking that to the grave."

Mayor Johnson might not have to worry about leaving Bears games early to "beat the traffic" in the not-too-distant future. The Bears are currently fielding offers to leave the city of Chicago entirely in favor of a new stadium deal.
