Chiefs Eye Reunion With 2-Time Super Bowl Champion Defender

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a busy offseason that saw them completely overhaul their defensive backfield.

The team traded All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams for four draft picks and watched starting safety Bryan Cook and cornerback Jaylen Watson walk out the door in free agency.

Kansas City then went shopping for immediate help by signing veterans Alohi Gilman, Kader Kohou, and Kaiir Elam, while also selecting LSU corner Mansoor Delane with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

Now, they’re looking to potentially bring a familiar face back to Arrowhead.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that free-agent cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, who previously won Super Bowls LVII and LVIII with the Chiefs, is set to visit with the team on Thursday, June 4.

The Chiefs drafted Sneed in the fourth round in 2020 out of Louisiana Tech, and he instantly became a key piece of two Super Bowl-winning defenses in Kansas City.

In 57 games with the Chiefs, he grew into a starter and a tone-setter, finishing with 303 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 13 QB hits, four forced fumbles, 10 interceptions, and 40 pass breakups across four seasons.

Yet, despite his big-play ability, the Chiefs traded him to Tennessee in March 2024 for a third and seventh-round pick, and the Titans then gave him a four-year, $76.4 million deal.

Tennessee expected a centerpiece. Instead, injuries and inconsistency took over, as Sneed appeared in just 12 games across two seasons and logged 49 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, and three pass breakups.

The Titans released Sneed in March 2026.

For the Chiefs, a reunion would make sense. The player fits the system, the staff knows the person, and the roster still has room for one more proven cover man.

For Sneed, it is a chance to reset in a place that already knows how to turn his playstyle into wins.

If the medicals and price are right, Kansas City could be buying a veteran answer while also buying insurance for a secondary that has already seen enough turbulence for one spring.
