Angel Reese Makes More WNBA History in Dream Win
Angel Reese is settling in nicely with her new team, as she achieved another record in the WNBA, while the Atlanta Dream picked up an 86-66 win over the Portland Fire.
In the game, Reese led the team in scoring 18 points and also grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out five assists, and blocked a shot in the team’s fifth victory.
She’s become well-known for her rebounding ability since joining the league several seasons ago, and Friday night’s result featured her making history after grabbing those boards.
The WNBA revealed that Reese became the fastest player ever to compile 900 rebounds in the league. Along with that, Reese became the fastest player in league history to rack up 900 points and 900 rebounds.

According to the league, Reese took just 71 games to achieve that record, adding yet another impressive feat to her early-career accolades.
It’s unsurprising to see Reese claim this record. During her 2024 rookie season, she needed just 38 games to pass WNBA great Tina Charles for the fastest player to tally 500 points and 500 rebounds in their WNBA career.
In just three seasons, Reese quickly established herself as a dominant rebounder and continues to climb towards the WNBA’s top 25 for all-time rebounds. At No. 25 is former WNBA player Tangela Smith with 2,335 rebounds in her career.
If she continues on her current path, a third WNBA All-Star selection could be in her future, but many games remain before that happens. Right now, it’s likely that she and the team’s focus is on stacking up wins.
In previous seasons with the Chicago Sky, Reese drew some harsh criticism for being unable to score layups or close shots to the basket, and also for getting a lot of “Mebounds,” a term critics created for shots she missed that allowed her to get an easier rebound.
There was also criticism from her towards her former team and teammates about not having the right roster, as they struggled to win and failed to reach the WNBA Playoffs in her two seasons. Although she apologized for those comments late last season, the team traded her to Atlanta in the offseason.
Since joining, they’ve started the season as a winning squad. The Dream are now 5-2 and continue to hold the best record in the WNBA’s Eastern Conference. Caitlin Clark and the 4-3 Indiana Fever are just below them in second place.
