Stephanie White Has Take on Valkyries Crowd After Fever Loss

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White had a lot to say about the hostile fans in San Francisco.

Fresh off a razor-thin 90-88 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday, Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White addressed the media and shared her thoughts about the sold-out crowd inside Chase Center.

Despite the hostilities they faced as the visiting team during the game, White couldn't help but tip her hat to the fans who showed out to support the Valkyries.

"First of all, I love when we play here," White said. "These kinds of environments are a lot of fun. I think it speaks to the fan support in the Bay Area. It's always been really good at the collegiate level, and now professionally as well."

It was their rematch with the Valkyries, who they defeated on May 22, 90-82, on their home floor at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Caitlin Clark starred during that game with 22 points and nine assists. But this time, the Indiana superstar was held to just 16 points and six assists.

However, the former WNBA Coach of the Year reiterated that the crowd was the least of her worries during a close, intense game like that, saying she was too focused on the contest.

"But when you get into those moments during a game, you're locked in," White stated. "I don't even hear the fans, so I don't know about the players. When the crowd is going before the game, during a timeout, or on a dead ball, you can kind of hear it, but it's almost like white noise out there."

"Home-court advantage is home-court advantage."

That loss to the Valkyries snapped their three-game win streak, which also handed them their third defeat of the season in seven games. This places Indiana in second place in the Eastern Conference with a 4-3 record.

They hope to bounce back against the Portland Fire on Saturday.
