Anacortes American Boys Athletes of the Week: Adam Van Egdom, Colton Hong

Anacortes boys' tennis players Adam Van Egdom and Colton Hong finished as runners-up at the Class 2A State Tournament.

The pair, who won the Northwest 2A District doubles title in October, went 3-1 on Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23, in Seattle.

Van Egdom and Hong won their first three state matches 6-2, 6-4, 6-3, and 7-6 (8-6).

They then won their semifinal 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 before losing in the state title match 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5.

"Colton and Adam are the best of us and they are both graduating seniors and they will be sorely missed," Anacortes coach Bryan Benson said.
