Bills Insider Sheds Light on Potential Keon Coleman Trade
The Buffalo Bills have Joe Brady as the new head coach and also made a blockbuster trade to acquire Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore.
Fellow WR Keon Coleman, who was selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, became a target of trade conversations after the season came to an end.
After Sean McDermott was fired, Bills owner Terry Pegula said that the coaching staff pushed to select Coleman in the draft, prompting questions about whether or not he would be traded.
Then came the acquisition of Moore, but the Bills insisted that they viewed Coleman as part of their future plans.
"Our intention is for Keon to be here, and so I think the word was kind of out," Bills GM Brandon Beane said previously. "We've hit the reset button with him, and hopefully the fan base and everyone's behind him. I think his best year is yet to come here in 2026."
Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN gave an update on the Coleman trade front, and it seems the Bills still plan on keeping the WR around.
"But any hint of a trade has been shut down by Beane, as he said the team intends for Coleman to remain in Buffalo and that the Bills have rebuffed any teams reaching out with interest. If something dramatically shifted, a post-June 1 trade would create $1.7 million in cap space and under $2.2 million in 2027," Getzenberg wrote.
What Could the Bills Get For Coleman
ESPN writers compiled potential packages from four different teams in the same article, and the return was basically the same.
The proposed return would be a fourth or fifth-round pick in 2027 or 2028, so not much for a player the Bills drafted two years ago on Day 2.
ESPN named the Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens as team who could make an offer, but in the end, Getzenberg expects Coleman to stick in Buffalo at least another season.
"Coleman has said he understands what is on the line this season, and the Bills are currently committed to giving him this chance. Whether it can all come together in Buffalo, however, is still a big question," Getzenberg wrote.
Whether or not that sentiment changes during the season or during the summer remains to be seen, but right now, all signs point to the Bills giving Coleman another chance with the new staff.
