Carli Lloyd Promises To Pull No Punches During World Cup Coverage
Legendary U.S. women's national team star Carli Lloyd is excited to be part of the 2026 World Cup coverage.
Lloyd, one of the best players in U.S. women's soccer history, is set to cover the 2026 Men's World Cup, which is set to begin next month. The 2026 World Cup will be airing live on FOX. Lloyd will be part of the coverage team.
While Lloyd has been critical of the U.S. women's national team at times, some are wondering if she'll keep that energy for the men's side.
She's made it clear that she will.
Lloyd has been critical of the U.S. women's national team, for which she faced some criticism.
"The women weren't playing well and it was obvious to everybody," Lloyd recalled. "I'd have to live under a rock if I didn't call them out for some of the things that were going on."
However, Lloyd plans on being critical of the men's team - if it's necessary - too.
Lloyd won't back down from criticism
Lloyd has made it clear that her expectations of the men's team will be high, as well. No one should just be happy with getting out of the group stage and into the knockout round.
"Why do we want to keep rinsing and repeating the same thing?" Lloyd said, per Awful Announcing. "You know, ‘Let's get out of the group. Let's get to the round of 32 … and, you know, kind of bow out at the round of 16.' At some point, we got to push further."
Full coverage of the 2026 Men's World Cup will begin next month.
