North Carolina's Henri Veesaar is on the Verge of Landing His Dream NBA Gig

The 2026 NBA Combine is officially over, and now, NBA scouts have a better idea of the talent that’s in the upcoming draft class and which players best fit their rosters.

North Carolina forward Henri Veesaar quietly became one of the more promising players in the draft. Now, he’s getting link to a team that’s one of the final four standing in the NBA playoffs, making this projection a true dream gig for him.

In a mock draft from USA Today published on Tuesday, May 19, Bryan Kalbrosky gives his projections for what will happen in the draft now that Combine has wrapped up. “After the conclusion of the scouting combine in Chicago,” he notes, “talent evaluators are walking away with new opinions on some of the players after they completed measurements and athletic testing.”

Also, note that players can stay entry draft candidates through 11:59 p.m. ET on May 27 if they want to keep their collegiate eligibility or they can head back to college and the NIL world.

Kalbrosky has Veesaar going at No. 29 to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“We have seen a remarkable improvement from Henri Veesaar after transferring from Arizona to North Carolina. The 7-foot big man from Estonia has an excellent shot diet on offense,” he states in the piece. “The All-ACC big man is scoring efficiently at the rim (especially when cutting or rolling) and on 3-pointers, while also holding his own as a rebounder and passer. Any team looking for a big man who can provide NBA minutes will have him high on their priority list.”

My Take: Henri Veesaar to the Cleveland Cavs

Veesaar would bring real value to the Cavs, and it would be a dream gig for him, since this team is already strong and has the tools for him to walk in and make noise. He must feel confident in his abilities to do well in the NBA, too, because according to CBS, Veesaar was offered “at least $6 million” in the transfer portal and still declared for the NBA.
