The 11th Hole At The PGA Championship Is One Of The Toughest You'll Ever See
The first round of the 2026 PGA Championship is underway on Thursday, live from Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. While the PGA Championship isn't always known for brutal course conditions, players should have a pretty difficult time, especially with the greens, this weekend.
The hardest hole of the course, many project, will be the 11th. The 425-yard Par 4 has more than 20 bunkers and a brutal green layout.
"More than 20 bunkers protect this hole, almost evenly divided between the two sides of the fairway and around the green. Distance and spin control must be precise on the short uphill approach to the green: Landing short or imparting too much spin can result in the ball coming back as far as 50 yards into the fairway. Another very challenging green complex will test even the best players in the world," the PGA Championship describes.
It's already playing hard.
Bryson DeChambeau saw just how hard the No. 11 hole is early on Thursday, when he blew a putt from off the green some 50 yards past the hole, as his ball just continued to pick up speed.
It's brutal.
Golf fans expect this hole to be absolutely crushing
You can expect a lot of high scores on this one, especially on Thursday, with the pin location being what it is.
"That false front is absolutely brutal and there is simply no easy pin placement on that green. You need to be above the hole, but that still leaves you a dangerous downhill putts from most spots. Balls can role 50yds back down into the fairway," one fan projected.
It's shaping up to be an extremely, extremely difficult hole on Thursday.
The first round of the 2026 PGA Championship is airing live on ESPN throughout the day.
