Brady Hamer named TDN's top high school baseball player of the week

Even with some teams playing fewer games than usual due to the playoffs starting soon - or having already started - in Washington, local baseball players still made their mark last week.

Here are the top 10 high school baseball players of the week in order of the top performers.

Player of the week

Brady Hamer - Castle Rock

Hamer is TDN's top high school baseball player of the week. He totaled five hits, with a triple and a double, and five RBIs while throwing a no-hitter last week.

On Tuesday, the senior had three hits, with a triple, and four RBIs in a 24-0 win over Stevenson. He also tossed a no-hitter while striking out 13 batters in five innings. In a 15-1 victory over the Bulldogs on Thursday, Hamer had two hits and one RBI with a double.

The rest of the top 10

Evan Chisholm - Castle Rock

Chisholm had a stellar week as well for the Rockets. He could have been named player of the week himself after tallying six hits, with a triple, and seven RBIs. He started out the week with a hit during a 5-1 win over Toutle Lake on Monday.

On Tuesday, Chisholm had three hits and three RBIs and then added two hits, with a triple, and four RBIs on Thursday. The senior also struck out three batters without giving away any hits or earned runs in three innings on the mound.

Stuart Teter - Castle Rock

Teter makes his first appearance on the list. He totaled four hits, with a home run and a double, and five RBIs last week. The senior had two hits and two RBIs with a double on Tuesday and had a home run and a single with three RBIs on Thursday.

Riley Young - R.A. Long

Young returns to this list once again. The senior finished the week with three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs for the Jacks in two wins over Hudson's Bay.

He started the week with two hits and three RBIs with a home run while also striking out eight batters in five innings of work during a 6-2 win over the Eagles on Monday. He followed that up with a hit and an RBI in a 5-3 victory on Wednesday.

Bryce Collins - Kelso

Despite Kelso only playing one game last week, that didn't stop Collins from making another appearance on this list. The senior threw a one-hitter and struck out 14 batters in seven innings while also tallying two hits in a 4-0 win over Peninsula on Tuesday.

Dominic Rivera - Toutle Lake

Rivera totaled three hits and six RBIs with two doubles for the Ducks in a 2-1 week. He had two hits and three RBIs with a double and struck out 10 batters in a 16-6 win over Morton-White Pass in the first round of the District 4 2B tournament on Saturday.

Also on Saturday in the quarterfinals against Pe Ell-Willapa Valley, the senior had a double and three RBIs in a 14-2 win, sending Toutle Lake to the semifinals.

Jack Kerker - Castle Rock

Kerker is yet another Rocket to make the list this week. He totaled five hits, with two doubles, and four RBIs. The senior started the week with an RBI against Toutle Lake and then had two hits and two RBIs with a double on Tuesday.

On Thursday, he had another double, finishing with three hits and one RBI. Kerker also struck out four batters in two innings of relief work on the mound to pick up the save.

JJ Soden - Castle Rock

Soden is the last Rocket to appear on the list after notching five hits, with two doubles, and four RBIs last week. He had a double on Monday and followed that up with two hits and three RBIs on Tuesday. On Thursday, he had a double and a single with an RBI.

Oliver Foster - Toutle Lake

Foster finished with three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs last week for the Ducks. Against Morton-White Pass, the junior had a hit and then followed that up with two hits and four RBIs with a home run versus Pe Ell-Willapa Valley.

Luke Andreasen - Clatskanie

Andreasen returns to the list yet again for the Tigers after helping them to three wins over Gaston last week. He totaled three hits and three RBIs and struck out 12 total batters in eight innings of pitching duty. The senior started the week by throwing a one-hitter and striking out seven batters in five innings during a 13-0 win on Tuesday.

He also tallied an RBI in that game. In a 13-3 victory during the first game of the doubleheader on Friday, Andreasen had two hits and one RBI. In the rematch, he had a hit and an RBI and struck out five more batters in three innings of action on the mound.
