Fans React to NBA's Decision on Victor Wembanyama Punishment

San Antonio Spurs star center Victor Wembanyama was ejected from Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinal series against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday after he was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul. Wembanyama was removed from the game because he elbowed Minnesota's Naz Reid in the throat.

The incident occurred in the second quarter of Sunday's game, which left San Antonio without its star for the rest of the matchup. The Timberwolves came out on top, winning 114-109 to even the series at 2-2.

On Monday, the NBA decided on if there would be any further punishment for Wembanyama, such as a suspension for Game 5.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that there would be no further discipline for Wembanyama, meaning that he would not be suspended and there would be no fines for the Spurs star.

Some fans believed that this was the correct decision.

"As it should be. It was an unfortunate situation and shouldn't have happened but we need Wemby in this series," said one fan.

"JUSTICE PREVAILS!!! THANK YOU NBA!" wrote another.

"He's a good kid and it's his first offense," chimed in one more.

While some fans agreed with the NBA's decision not to fine or suspend Wembanyama, another group thought that he should be punished more.

"Clear intent and no suspension," wrote one user.

"This is a deeply unserious move by the NBA. There are many precedents for the same flagrant fouls with suspensions and fines," said another fan.

"Treated unfairly, minimum 1 game if any other player…" commented one more.

After this decision, Wembanyama will be available to play in a pivotal Game 5 on Tuesday when the Spurs take on the Timberwolves at 8 p.m. ET. The game will be live on NBC and Peacock.
