'Inside The NBA' Is Planning A Special Ted Turner Tribute

The media world lost a major force today as Ted Turner passed away at the age of 87. Tributes are pouring in across the country and it appears that Inside the NBA will doing one as well.

According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, the Inside the NBA cast will address Turner's passing during the 6 p.m. hour of today's show.

"'Inside the NBA' will address the passing of the legendary Ted Turner sometime during the 6 p.m. hour," McCarthy reported.

Tributes to Turner

Turner helped create Inside the NBA through his company's acquisition of league broadcast rights all the way back in 1989. Despite decades of changes across the sports and entertainment landscape, Inside the NBA remained one of the few shows to enjoy the same relative format from the beginning of its run on TNT all the way to the show's acquisition by ESPN in 2025.

Sports and entertainment leaders, and even President Trump himself have offered their condolences to Turner today. The President called Turner "one of the Greats of Broadcast History, and a friend of mine."

"We will miss you, ted. You helped make us who we are today, and the Atlanta Braves are forever grateful for the impact you made on our organization and in our community," the Atlanta Braves said in a statement on their former owner.

"Ted Turner was a true pioneer whose vision transformed modern media. Through the creation and development of Turner Broadcasting, Ted changed the way fans experience live sports and brought leagues like the NBA to a broader national and global audience. He was a passionate steward of our game for decades – both as a longtime owner of the Atlanta Hawks and as a devoted partner who played an integral role in advancing the league's growth," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. "On behalf of the NBA, I send my deepest condolences to Ted's family and friends."

Our hearts go out to Turner's family and loved ones.
