Highly-Touted 2027 WR on LSU: 'They're in a Strong Spot'
The LSU Tigers are continuing their push for class of 2027 wide receiver Miguel Whitley. Standing at 5-foot-11.5 and weighing 185 pounds, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 29 wide receiver and the No. 202 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.
The New Orleans, Louisiana native wrapped up a solid junior season at St. Augustine High School. In 14 games, he accumulated 46 receptions for 869 yards and 14 touchdowns. With summer approaching, the pass catcher is beginning to narrow down his list of top choices.
Rivals' national recruiting analyst, Sam Spiegelman, reports that a battle is forming between the Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks and Ole Miss Rebels.
With each SEC team looking to land the wide receiver's commitment, LSU appears to be in the lead. When speaking to Spiegelman, Whitley noted that the Tigers being an in-state program is having a big impact on his recruitment.
"LSU is definitely right there at the top for me right now," he said. "Being so close to home and the way they've been recruiting me consistently all spring really stands out. They've made it clear I'm a priority, so they're in a strong spot heading into official visits."
The Tigers have done well when targeting in-state recruits. Three of LSU's five commitments in the 2027 cycle are from Louisiana. The group as a whole already ranks fourth in the SEC and eighth in the nation.
Adding Whitley would give Lane Kiffin and his staff yet another exciting addition. He could be the third pass catcher they land, joining five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson and four-star wide receiver Ah'Mari Stevens.
As the in-state program continues to prioritize Whitley with SEC interest intensifying, official visits will play a key role in his decision.
