Two softball dynasties of SW Washington tangled on Friday night and the 1A Bulldogs used a two-run home run from Taylor Galvin to triumph over the 2B Pirates 2-1 at home.
Outside of the fourth inning, it was a pitcher's duel between Adna's Charlie Myers and Montesano's pair of arms Grace Gooding and Violet Prince. Both sides had six hits while the Bulldogs came out on top despite four errors.
Adna (14-3) nabbed a 1-0 lead thanks to a Teagan Baggenstos leadoff double and she crossed home on a passed ball. Galvin needed to see just one pitch from Myers to put Montesano in front for good.
The Pirates had the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position in the sixth and also left Lena McCloskey stranded at second in the seventh. It snaps a four-game winning streak even with Myers striking out nine in six innings. They'll take another 1A program in Elma on Monday.
