Knicks' Mitchell Robinson Breaks Silence After Game 6 Ejection vs. Hawks
The New York Knicks closed out their first-round series with an impressive 140-89 win over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 6, completing one of the most lopsided playoff victories in franchise and NBA history.
New York reached a 51-point lead in the first half and led 83-36 at halftime, close to the largest halftime margin (50) in NBA playoff history, and never faced a challenge the rest of the way.
Amid such a one-sided game, tempers flared in the second quarter when an altercation involving Mitchell Robinson and Dyson Daniels during a free-throw sequence resulted in both players being ejected.
The incident happened with 4:39 remaining in the first half as Robinson boxed out Daniels. Daniels appeared to make contact with an elbow thrown into Robinson's ribcage, followed by a dangerous grab of the big man's arm, leading to a face-to-face exchange before both players became entangled.
Teammates and coaches from both teams stepped in as the situation escalated toward the sideline, with the Knicks' Jalen Brunson and the Hawks' Onyeka Okongwu among the first to try holding Robinson back. Knicks head coach Mike Brown also ended up on the floor during the scramble.
Both Robinson and Daniels were assessed technical fouls and ejected, and after the game, Robinson addressed the moment in a social media post on his Facebook account.
"Knew something was (going to) happen," Robinson wrote. "My mental just not the same. I'm just lost in the world at the moment."

Making the in-game scuffle more interesting, Robinson had posted another message before the game that he later quoted with his postgame message, saying, "Trying so hard to be calm."
Robinson finished Game 6 with six points, three rebounds and two blocks in just 8:45 before the ejection sent him to the locker room early.
Speaking after the game, coach Brown said he had not reviewed the sequence yet, but acknowledged the challenge and need for staying composed amid such a situation.
"I haven't seen the film, and it's tough because when you're up that big, stuff happens," Brown said. "If somebody feels like something that shouldn't happen happens, it's hard to keep your composure in that moment."
The Knicks advanced to the second round after winning the series over the Hawks 4-2, and will have to wait to know their next opponent between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.
