Report: Other NFL Teams Have Interest In Signing Diego Pavia

Diego Pavia can still land an NFL opportunity after going undrafted.

Last season's Heisman Trophy runner-up went three days without hearing his name called. Although he's yet to sign anywhere, Pavia accepted an invitation to the Baltimore Ravens' minicamp this Sunday.

That reportedly won't be his only chance to vie for an NFL roster spot this summer. ESPN insider Adam Schefter said on Monday's "The Pat McAfee Show" that other clubs are interested in auditioning the former Vanderbilt star.

"The Ravens' minicamp is this weekend, but there are other teams that have minicamps the next weekend," Schefter said. "And there are other teams that want to bring him in if the Ravens don't sign him ... So he's got a couple of invitations, and we'll see where he winds up."

Pavia will try out with Baltimore before any of the other unspecified teams can get a closer look at the SEC Offensive Player of the Year. Schefter explained why the Ravens could represent a strong landing spot for the 24-year-old.

"I'm sure he's disappointed that he didn't get drafted, of course," Schefter said. "But, to me, that's a good opportunity in Baltimore this week. The Ravens currently have two quarterbacks on the roster: Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley. They don't have a third. It's been a strong organization for a long time.

"To me, that's a good opportunity. It's not what he wanted, but I always feel like it's more important about where you go, not where you go in the draft. And if he can go there and impress them and get signed on the roster, I like that opportunity for Diego Pavia."

Could Pavia play elsewhere?

If no NFL contract materializes, Pavia could potentially prove his worth in another league.

The CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers placed Pavia on their negotiation list, giving them exclusive negotiating rights over the rest of the league. Meanwhile, McAfee suggested a different path for the college standout.

The former punter argued that Pavia would be a perfect fit for the UFL.

"If it doesn't work out, is he not the UFL QB Blueprint?" McAfee wrote on social media. "Recognizable name. Can move. Not scared to promote ... Feels like an opportune time for the UFL and for the Pavia show."
