Shannon Sharpe Calls Out LeBron James' Critics After Rockets Game

Shannon Sharpe has had enough of the yearly LeBron James age debate. After LeBron delivered another big performance against the Rockets, Sharpe called out the critics who keep questioning how much longer the Lakers star can play at this level.

Every season, the same doubts come back: Is LeBron finally slowing down? Is this the year age catches up to him? But once again, he answered on the court, reminding everyone that even this deep into his career, he is still capable of taking over important games and silencing the noise around him.

In a recent episode of his show, ‘Night Cap', Sharpe sent a strong message to people who doubt James. He said, "Where's that crowd that says I can't do it? All I know is I'm leading a team. I'm averaging 25 points, probably 7 rebounds, probably 7, 8 assists, and I'm leading my team. So, I'm just trying to figure out where is that crowd now."

When It Matters, LeBron James Steps Up

LeBron James once again gave everyone a reminder that the age conversation around him might need to slow down a bit. With Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves both out injured, the Lakers needed someone to take control, and LeBron stepped right back into that lead role like he has done for more than two decades.

The biggest moment came late in regulation, when LeBron knocked down a clutch three-pointer with 13 seconds left to force overtime against the Houston Rockets. He almost won it at the buzzer too, but his final three-point attempt hit the rim. Still, the Lakers finished the job in overtime, beating Houston 112-108 and taking a commanding 3-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.

LeBron, now 41, finished with a team-high 29 points and 13 rebounds, carrying the Lakers when they needed him most. Marcus Smart also came up huge, scoring eight of his 21 points in overtime while adding 10 assists.

That performance is exactly why Shannon Sharpe pushed back on LeBron's critics. Sharpe's point was simple: people keep acting like LeBron taking a backseat means he can't lead anymore. But when Luka and Reaves were unavailable, LeBron showed he can still be the "lead dog" if the situation calls for it.

Sharpe basically said most players get moved aside once they can no longer lead, but LeBron is different. After 22-plus years of carrying teams, he can still flip the switch. And against Houston, he proved that once again.
