Bill Self, Kansas Lose Transfer Portal Battle for 4-Star Guard
Following their second-round loss to the St. John's Red Storm in the NCAA Tournament, the Kansas Jayhawks continue to face troubles. Bill Self and his staff have seen a handful of departures since the transfer portal officially opened on April 7.
So far, Kansas has lost eight players while bringing in just two. They're falling behind, with a transfer class that ranks just 13th in the Big 12. However, the Jayhawks have been working toward replenishing this lost talent.
On3's senior national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw previously reported that Kansas hosted former Utah Utes guard Terrence Brown for a visit.
Brown impressed in his first season with Utah after transferring from Fairleigh Dickinson. He started 32 games, averaging 19.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound junior also shot 45.3% from the field and 32.7% from the three-point line.
He emerged as one of the top players in this year's transfer portal cycle. On3 Industry Rankings list him as a four-star recruit, the No. 11 shooting guard and the No. 42 player in the nation.
While taking a campus visit showed serious interest between him and Kansas, Brown opted to go a different route. On Tuesday, On3's Joe Tipton reported that Brown has committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels.

He becomes just the second player that new Tar Heels head coach Michael Malone has landed via the portal, alongside former Virginia Tech Hokies guard Neoklis Avdalas. With 10 players departing, Brown is a key addition for North Carolina.
Meanwhile, the Jayhawks must search elsewhere if they're looking to upgrade the roster. As the portal cycle continues, Kansas faces pressure to secure impactful additions to avoid another early NCAA Tournament exit next season.
