Dexter Lawrence's Time With The Giants Is Reportedly 'Over'

Dexter Lawrence and the New York Giants appear to be heading for a divorce.

It was reported earlier this offseason that Lawrence requested a trade from the Giants. The Pro Bowl defensive lineman was hoping to receive a massive payday despite having two seasons remaining on his four-year, $90 million deal.

There was some optimism that Lawrence could work things out with the Giants, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday night that New York has engaged in trade talks with other teams.

Two days later, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reported that Lawrence no longer wants a new deal from the Giants.

"His time with the Giants is over," a source told Dunleavy.

Lawrence has been with the Giants since 2019, racking up 341 total tackles, 40 tackles for loss, 30.5 sacks and five forced fumbles. If he's traded before the start of the 2026 season, that'd be a crushing blow to John Harbaugh's defense.

A trade could happen very soon.

Rapoport said the Giants could get a trade done before the NFL Draft begins next Thursday.

"The Giants have engaged with teams on a potential trade and that will continue. It should come to a head before the Draft," Rapoport wrote. "By the time the Draft arrives, the Giants should gain a full understanding of league-wide interest in Dexter Lawrence, allowing them to make an all-important decision on his future and theirs."

SNY insider Connor Hughes said the Giants want a trade package similar to what the New York Jets got for Quinnen Williams. In case you need a reminder, the Dallas Cowboys offered the Jets a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick and defensive lineman Mazi Smith.

Do you think Lawrence will get moved by the end of next weekend?
