Seattle weather: Highs in the 80s on Tuesday could break daily record

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport may see record highs on Tuesday before temperatures cool later in the week.

A barometric ridge will bring temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s to the region, Melissa Gonzalez-Fuentes, a meteorologist with the weather service in Seattle, said.

The record high for the day was set in May 2023 at 82 - exactly the forecast high at Sea-Tac on Tuesday.

It might tie, it might break, Gonzalez-Fuentes said.

Skies will be mostly sunny on Tuesday before a low pressure system moves into the area Tuesday night through Wednesday, bringing showers. Seattle will likely see a brief reprieve from rain during the day on Thursday, before it returns in the evening.

Temperatures will drop to 62 on Wednesday and Thursday, then to 59 on Friday, with things looking drier over the weekend.
