Second man arrested in unprovoked attack in downtown Seattle
Redmond police on Monday arrested the second of two men accused of randomly assaulting a man in downtown Seattle in April.
The two men, 27 and 29, are suspected of knocking a 77-year-old man to the ground near Third Avenue and Pine Street around 9:50 p.m. April 19 in an unprovoked attack, then casually walking away while the victim remained on the ground. The 77-year-old suffered a head injury, broken right arm and broken left knee, and he told police he didn't know who hit him.
Seattle police officers arrested a 29-year-old Bellevue man that night after a security guard pointed him out, according to King County Superior Court documents, but he was released from the King County Jail two days after the attack. He has since been charged with second-degree assault and a $200,000 warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The 27-year-old from Auburn remained unidentified until Monday when a Redmond resident reported recognizing him from news coverage that included footage released by the Seattle Police Department's Real Time Crime Center, according to the Redmond Police Department. He was arrested for investigation of assault at a business in the 7800 block of Leary Way, north of Marymoor Park.
He remains in custody in the King County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
