Two dead after motorcycle collides with logging truck in Onalaska

Two men died Sunday following a motorcycle collision with a logging truck in Onalaska, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office has confirmed.

Field Operations Chief Rick Van Wyck said the incident occurred about 4 p.m. Sunday on Leonard Road near Wickliffe Lane.

According to Van Wyck, a motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Leonard Road when he crossed the centerline and struck a logging truck heading northbound.

A second motorcyclist was traveling behind the first when the collision occurred.

"This set off a chain reaction causing the second motorcycle rider to strike the first motorcyclist," Van Wyck said.

Both men, a 47-year-old from Chehalis and a 48-year-old from Onalaska, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The chief on Monday could not confirm which man struck the logging truck.

The Chronicle has reached out to the Lewis County Coroner's Office for more information.
