Bridge the Gap receives support of 100 Women Who Care

May 23-CAMAS - Members of 100 Women Who Care Clark County presented over $8,700 to Bridge the Gap on May 6 at the second quarterly meeting of 2026 held at The Hammond Kitchen and Craft Bar. Emily Weiss, chair, and Jayne Salisbury, co-chair, of the Bridge the Gap Board accepted the funds on behalf of the organization. 100 Women selected the Bridge the Gap at the February 2026 meeting. The Historic Trust and the Pink Lemonade Project were the other nonprofit nominees at the February meeting.

Bridge the Gap, established in 1999 by social worker Peggy Hays and community member Tauni Hemminger, supports about 1200 foster children living in the tri-county region of Southwest Washington. The organization receives between 20 to 25 requests for support from social workers monthly. Recognizing that 48 percent of children in foster care do not graduate from high school, their mission is to provide educational and social experiences for children that the foster care system is not funded to provide. This 100 percent volunteer organization helps children in foster care with a variety of services and enriching experiences, including tutoring, camps, therapy, sports activities, clothing, orthodontics and music and art classes.
