Wenatchee, Eastmont lead Apple Awards honoring regional high school theater talent

The 2026 Apple Awards, held May 14 at the Numerica Performing Arts Center, celebrated standout performances and productions from schools across the region after a season that included 13 adjudicated shows reviewed by 16 volunteer evaluators.

Wenatchee High School won Best Overall Musical for "Little Shop of Horrors," while Eastmont High School earned Best Overall Play honors for "Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion."

Among top acting awards, Kade Devereaux of Wenatchee won Lead Performer in a Musical for his portrayal of Seymour in "Little Shop of Horrors." MaryElise Clifton of Eastmont earned Lead Performer in a Play for her role as Ms. Marple in "Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion."

Supporting performance honors went to Dylan Cornea of Cashmere High School for his role as King Sextimus in "Once Upon a Mattress," and Owen Yeates of Quincy High School for his multi-character performance in "Puffs."

Technical and backstage awards also were recognized. Elana Wendorf of Wenatchee was named Stage Manager for "Little Shop of Horrors," while Odessa Lybbert of Quincy received a production crew award as props lead for "Puffs."

The evening's Academy Choice awards added additional recognition. Angel Gomez of Chelan High School won "Best Dead Body," Juno Ha of Eastmont was named "Best Utility Player," and Quincy High School's "Puffs" received recognition for practical effects and puppetry. Jameson Maydole of Eastmont also earned a Season Standout award for his portrayal of Batman in "Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion."

"We are so thankful to the great community support to help facilitate this endeavor, and are always humbled by the impact it immediately makes in so many young lives," Apple Awards producer Kylee Boggs said in a press release. "The impact this program has goes beyond one spectacular event, in ways seen and unseen, and I'm so glad to be a part."

Now in its fifth year, the Apple Awards recognize high school theater and performing arts across North Central Washington. Hosted by Numerica Performing Arts Center, the program aims to highlight student talent, encourage arts education and foster appreciation for live performance in the region.
