A Kennewick man was arrested Monday morning after he allegedly hit a neighbor with the neighbor’s gun, causing it to fire during a scuffle over loud music.

The 25-year-old neighbor approached Codie Supak, 35, early that morning about the stereo, which was playing so loudly that it woke up other people in the apartment complex at 2604 W. Bruneau Place, a release said.

That’s when Supak became confrontational and started assaulting the neighbor, causing a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol the neighbor had tucked in his gym shorts to fall to the ground, said police.

Supak picked up the gun and pointed it at the neighbor but the argument continued. It was after Supak hit the neighbor in the head with the gun, causing it to fire, that he dropped it and ran into his apartment.

The neighbor picked up his gun and locked it in his car before calling police. Supak refused to open his door to officers and after they got a warrant they broke in and found Supak in a bedroom.

Supak was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault and felon in possession of or discharging a gun.
