Vehicle traffic across Little Goose Lock and Dam has been temporarily stopped to allow repair of the upstream bridge crossing the navigation lock, according to the Army Corps of Engineers.

Maintenance staff at the dam placed the bridge out of service Wednesday when they identified mechanical issues with the motor that operates it.

The bridge opens drawbridge-style to allow boats access to the navigation lock.

The bridge will remain in its open position until bridge operating equipment can be repaired, said Jeanette Wilson, Little Goose Dam’s chief of operations.

The nearest bridge across the Snake River is located about eight miles northwest of Starbuck on Highway 261, between Lyons Ferry Marina and Lyon Ferry State Park.
