Latino Civic Alliance calls for Kennewick councilman to step down
The Latino Civic Alliance has called on Kennewick City Councilman Bob Parks to step down after he posted anti-Latino comments on Facebook.
It also asked the city of Kennewick to remove him from any committee affiliated with the city.
He represents the city on the Hanford Advisory Board, the Parks and Recreation Committee, the Tri-Cities Regional Public Facilities District, the Infrastructure and Operations Committee and Planning and Economic Development Committee. He serves as an alternate on additional committees.
“Councilman Parks’ personal agenda to constantly attack hard-working Latinos that financially contribute to the Kennewick economy has reached its end,” said alliance Chairwoman Nina Martinez, in a statement. “We will no longer tolerate public officials abusing their position to bully or ridicule our communities.”
The alliance, a statewide nonpartisan organization, called on people to attend Kennewick council meetings.
