Coroner announces findings in Kennewick police shooting
The man Kennewick police killed Sunday died from gunshot wounds, according to an autopsy.
Hussein Dahir Hassan, 46, was shot multiple times in the torso, Benton County Coroner John Hansens said Wednesday in a news release.
Dr. Sigmund Menchel of Bellevue, a forensic pathologist, performed the autopsy.
Toxicology test results will be available in about two months, Hansens said.
Kennewick police officers Joshua Kuhn and Jason Kiel shot Hassan after the man attacked Kiel with a sword near the corner of Olympia Street and West 10th Avenue. Kiel suffered head injuries during the confrontation but was treated and released from the hospital.
