Ferrari Testarossa 6x6 Somehow Exists And Just Took Its First Drive

A Testarossa Like No Other

The Ferrari Luce is taking flak for its design, so perhaps it needs a break for now, and let's turn our attention to another uniquely designed car: this one-of-one Testarossa 6x6. This is, however, not an in-house Ferrari build, but rather a project from Gas Monkey Garage, with Supercar Blondie visiting the shop for its first road test.

Car builder Richard Rawlings and the team gave the Testarossa 6x6 the name F6, which is not far removed from Ferrari's own naming style, including models like the F8, F40, and F50. The team also joked about not wanting to get into a dispute with the Italian marque by using F60, given its history of protecting its brand.

More Than Just An Extra Axle

This type of build usually draws polarizing opinions, especially considering the Testarossa is one of Ferrari's most iconic models and was a major rival to the Lamborghini Countach in the 1980s. However, this particular example reportedly started as a salvaged movie car from 2021's Infinite, so the team did not cut up a pristine collector-grade example for the project.

The original Testarossa made around 385 horsepower. This 6x6 version is claimed to produce 1,200 horsepower from a supercharged LT4 engine. The rear end was extended to accommodate the engine, the extra axle, and the additional pair of wheels.

Those familiar with the Testarossa may notice not only the 6x6 layout, but also the F40-inspired design cues inside and out. The vehicle has also been fitted with a wide-body kit, a subtle roof scoop, and a new custom set of wheels inspired by the original five-spoke design, said to cost $60,000.

Six Wheels On The Move

A 6x6 layout is usually better suited to off-road builds like the Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 Brabus, as the wheels provide more contact points with the ground and can improve traction in certain conditions. But for a sports car, the benefits are less obvious. The added weight and complexity could even work against performance, so this build is better treated as a showpiece rather than a serious performance upgrade.

Based on the first test drive, Supercar Blondie said the F6 felt surprisingly normal and easy to drive. What stood out most to her was the sound of the supercharger, which gives the car a very different character from a traditional Ferrari. For now, there is still some fine-tuning left before the car is sold.
