Staffy's Excitement Over His Grandparents Is Too Pure

Growing up, there were no better words my mom could say than, "Do you want to go to Gram's?" It was always a special thing to spend the weekend at my favorite grandparents' house, because admittedly, I was ridiculously spoiled there. And like us, dogs are the same way when it comes to visits with the matriarch and patriarch.

Tommy, the precious blue Staffy, must feel the same way because when Mom asks if he'd like to see Granddad, he can't get out the door fast enough!

Once that door swings open, @tommybluestaff does an all-out sprint toward his favorite people. Despite Mom mentioning Granddad by name, Tommy makes a beeline for his Nana. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but she gets the golden ticket with Tommy... not Gramps!

I've learned as a pet parent to a Staffy that they generally run toward those who give them the most things. In my house, that's me-the food lady-and I soak up every moment of being the gifted chosen one when I enter the room.

Tommy is as sweet as can be all the time, really, but he's even better when he has a captive audience fully enamored by his cuteness. He's part of the family, a wonderful big brother to his small human sibling, and the best companion this family could ask for.

So, when they moved into a new house that didn't have the greatest people-watching spot, they sprang into action to build him a new place to watch over his neighborhood. Even Grandpa got in on the action, proving Tommy really is the star here.

How Dogs Choose Their Favorite People

It may be obvious to anyone with dogs, but they tend to play favorites based on who they have the best, most positive interactions. Whether it has to do with attention, treats, walks, or otherwise, they thrive on the consistency that their favorite humans provide. The favorites are those who understand their needs and fulfill them-it's really that simple (and Tommy's figured it out)!
