What Is Elon Musk's Net Worth?
Over the years, Elon Musk has proven himself to be a savvy businessman, with a list of successful investments and products attached to his name. He helped to revolutionize the auto industry, popularizing electric cars with Tesla, a company that has a valuation of around $1.456 trillion. Musk also has the neurotechnology Neuralink under his belt, a business with a valuation just shy of $15 billion. And how could anyone forget that Musk also owns X (formerly Twitter), a platform with roughly 650 million active users. Then there's SpaceX.
SpaceX Goes Public and Likely Nets Musk a Fortune
SpaceX has become a massive force to be reckoned with as an aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company. Under Musk's leadership, the company has successfully developed a global satellite internet network in Starlink. Although, SpaceX still has a long way to go to achieve its goal of creating a civilization on Mars. Per the SpaceX site:
"Starship cargo flights to the Martian surface for research, development, and exploratory missions start no earlier than 2028, at a rate of $100 million per metric ton."
With that being said, SpaceX just made history on June 12, when the company officially went public. It opened with the largest IPO (initial public offering) in history, at $150 per share, promoting SpaceX to have a roughly $2 trillion valuation. Additionally, CBS estimates that SpaceX's going public increased the value of Musk's shares in the company by a whopping $192.3 billion.
Elon Musk Becomes the World's First Trillionaire
Given his new windfall of cash, Musk is now reported to have a net worth hovering around $1.18 trillion. That staggering amount puts his net worth at more than the GDP of most countries across the globe. And heck, he was already the richest man in the world, but now, according to Forbes, his net worth is nearly triple that of the second-wealthiest person, Google co-founder Larry Page. Talk about a huge payday.
