On May 29, Haddie, who goes by @hadtips on social media, shared an adorable sneak peek of a patient at the vet clinic where she works. It was a baby seagull en route to a wildlife rehabilitation center! The seagull chick stole everyone's hearts in a matter of moments, but some of Haddie's viewers came to a shocking realization: they'd never seen a baby seagull before!

Have you ever seen a baby seagull? These fluffy baby birds don't look anything like they do fully grown, though they're already twice as cute.

@hadtips

I can't handle the cuteness. For anyone wondering, this little one was checked over at our clinic and then transferred to a wildlife rehabilitation center. #babyseagull#birdsoftiktok#seagulls#vetmed#cutebirds

Isn't this baby too cute? Those tiny spots and clumsy wobbles are absolutely priceless, but the bird's fluffy feathers are my favorite detail. No wonder commenters like @rachel_h217 said, "He looks like a scoop of cookies and cream ice cream."

It's hard to believe that these innocent, unbalanced babies grow up into pushy birds who will do anything for food, especially since most people have never seen a baby seagull before! Now I'm curious when exactly these chicks grow into their confident personalities. It sure isn't when they're this small!

"I didn't know about seagull babies," commenter @yourlocalcryptid16 shared. "I mean logically, everything is a baby at some point; I get that, but for some reason I always thought of them just... spawning into existence fully grown and ready to steal your French fries and scream at God."

As hilarious as this thought may be, it does bring up an excellent point-where are all the baby seagulls? These bird chicks are way more elusive than adults, but where are they hiding?

Where Are All the Baby Seagulls?

Even though adult seagulls are willing to search just about anywhere for a bite to eat, babies tend to stay in their nests until they're old enough to learn to fly.

"They're just out-of-the-way places," Mark Faherty, science coordinator at Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, explains to the Cape Cod Times. "So many people don't have an opportunity to see the baby gulls," said Faherty. Once the gulls fledge and learn to fly, after a month or two, they disperse from the colony and will appear on beaches by late summer."

Seagulls build their nests on cliffsides and other hard-to-reach locations to keep eggs and chicks safe from predators. Considering how few people have ever seen baby seagulls like this cutie pie that Haddie met, they're doing an excellent job!
