Netflix Quietly Cancels New Show After Just One Season

Netflix added another cancellation to its growing list from 2026, without a word from the streaming giant itself.

The Abandons, Terminator Zero, The Vince Staples Show, Pop The Balloon LIVE, Selling the City, With Love, Meghan, Alice In Borderland, Class, Miss Governor have all been canceled so far this year, along with the Strip Law.

Netflix also confirmed the end of five other shows: Alpha Males, Breathless, The Night Agent, The Lincoln Lawyer and Survival of the Thickest.

But there's another that joined the list.

'What's in the Box?' Ending After First Season

The Neil Patrick Harris-hosted game show What's in the Box is coming to an end after just one season.

Veteran television reporter Matt Mitovich (formerly of TVLine) broke the news in a recent mailbag when he was asked if Netflix was planning a sophomore outing for the game show.

Mitovich poured cold water on the idea, responding: "I am hearing there are no plans at this time for more episodes of the Neil Patrick Harris-hosted game show."

What is 'What's in the Box?'

At the start of the game, 13 gold boxes each containing "an unbelievable, life-changing prize are there for the taking - or, should we say, opening," Netflix descirbes.

Paris of contestants are tasked with opening as many boxes as possible. In order to open a box, though, the contestants must outwit their competitors in rounds of trivia to unveil what lies within.

"But in this game of power and possession, keeping the prize is the real challenge," Netflix warned. "With twists galore and serious winnings on the line, they must work together and against each other to come out on top. At the end of the season, the team with the most prizes plays for the Super Box, a chance to earn a prize worth over $250,000."

All six episodes of the series are available for streaming.
