Washington residents, how are the rising gas prices impacting you?

Gas prices in Washington are breaking record highs, which is breaking the bank for many locals when they fill up their tanks.

The conflict between the U.S., Israel and Iran has caused ripple effects felt around the world - and American consumers haven't been spared at the pump. Iran's tactic to close the Strait of Hormuz, a Middle Eastern waterway through which lots of oil bound for trade passes, until the war is over has forced fuel prices up to sky-high levels.

One year ago, the average price of regular gas in Washington was $4.26, per the American Automobile Association. That had skyrocketed to $5.76, as of Thursday.

It's the highest recorded price.

In King County, the average cost has crawled even higher: $5.99.

The Seattle Times wants to hear from Washington residents about how rising gas prices are impacting their budgets.
