Jason Kelce Stars as a Cowboy in His New Short Film 'The Last True Cold One'
Now that Jason Kelce is retired from the NFL, is he following in OJ Simpson's footsteps and become an actor? While he hasn't booked a starring role in a Hollywood feature just yet, the former Philadelphia Eagles center just played the lead in a 16-minute short film for his beer brand, Garage Beer.
The film, The Last True Cold One, is a stylized Western in which Kelce plays a cowboy version of himself. He and his loyal horse Travis - named for his brother and Garage Beer business partner, Travis Kelce - set out on a quest to find a cold beer and meet a cast of quirky characters along the way.
One of them is his wife, Kylie Kelce, the sheriff of the seemingly lawless town. Another is his former Eagles teammate Beau Allen, who actually gives quite the performance as the film's primary antagonist. Perhaps he was a cowboy in a past life.
The film is quite a production. In addition to special effects and elaborate period costumes and sets, there are even fight scenes and choreographed stunts. This isn't just a casual TikTok video - producing this likely cost thousands of dollars.
Jason Kelce Has Been Acting In His Own Films For a Minute
This isn't the first time Kelce has starred in his own production, either. Last August, he played the leading role in Garage Beer's first short film, The Final Brewmite. In it, he plays a martial arts student training with several masters before competing in a tournament to win a golden beer.
Then in October, he starred in Thermal Buzz, a parody of the movie Predator and promotional tie-in for Predator: Badlands. "THERMAL BUZZ is a cinematic parody of Predator," reads the film's description, "except dumber, sweatier, and filled with more beer."
In a press release about Thermal Buzz, Kelce spoke about his cinematic inspirations. "As a 90's kid there's nothing I loved more than a good action movie," he said. "In my mind, it's hard to find a movie more iconic than Predator."
