Bonus day for Justin Feser. Defenseman Derek Ryckman is back and he can go back to playing forward. Don't get me wrong, Feser is a pretty good D-man, just like Drydn Dow can play forward if the need should arise.
The Americans have a handful of affiliate players on the roster tonight, including Beau McCue, Justin Gutierrez, Clint Filbrandt and Parker Bowles. Bowles was here for a game earlier this season and played really well. He will get another chance to impress tonight, as he's in the lineup wearing No 39.
Ty Rimmer is on goal tonight. Eric Comrie started Sunday against the Cougars, but did not fare well. Let's see what tonight brings. The AP players are scrated, as are Sam Grist, Jesse Mychan, Brian Williams, Lucas Nickles and Lukas Walter.
Going into tonight's game, Adam Hughesman, Patrick Holland, Justin Feser and Drydn Dow have played all 69 games.
PG is starting Drew Owsley in goal. Take a good look my friends, this is the last time we will see Mr. Owsley in action. Daniel Gibb, who has a wonky knee, is laying tonight, while Greg Fraser, Daulton Siwak, Shane Pilling and Joseph Carvalhe are scrated.
The Cougars lose tonight, and their playoff hopes are pretty much over. They are five points back of eighth-place Victoria with three games (including tonight) remaining. Victoria has two games left — both against visiting Portland.
Visiting this week are Angie Hughesman and the Shinnimins — Maureen and John, and Lukas Walter's family (I haven't met them yet). I'm sure we will have more this weekend.
Puck drops in 6.
PG scores first, but the Americans storm right back with power play goals by Hughesman and Shinnimin, and Malte Strömwall's blast from the left point found nothing but net for a 3-1 lead.
PG would pull within 3-2 late in the period as the puck took a funky bounce and Troy Bourke was there to put it in behind a sliding Rimmer.
PG has a 4-3 lead. The Cougars took advantage of sloppy play by the Americans on both plays. I don't think I have seen the Americans this sloppy in a long time.
One period to right the ship.
Adam Hughesman tied the game at 4, but Jesse Forsberg would get the game-winner in OT for PG.
The Americans were sloppy most of the night, and that led to four PG goals. Hopefully they have that out of their system.
