Vote for Bergman as short-season pitcher of the year

Got an e-mail from Ken Roberts, the Dust Devils all-star reliever today.

Just like he did this season, he's still getting his pitchers' backs. Here's a portion of the e-mail he sent regarding fellow Northwest League all-star Christian Bergman.

"Jack,  This is Ken Roberts from the Tri-City Dust Devils. I was on MiLB the other day and saw Christian Bergman was up for short season starter of the year. In order to win this he needs as many votes as possible. We all know he is well deserving of this honor so we just need to get the word out to go vote! You can vote 25 times, maybe more if you delete your cookies! Voting ends Oct. 20th! Please help us get him this honor!!"

That was the gist of the note he sent to me. So I thought I'd pass it along to you to help Christian receive an honor he is well-worthy of. Here's the link to the MILB voting site.

You might also notice that Chad Bettis — another former Dust Devils pitcher from 2010 — is on the list of best starters for the Advanced A level. And Tim Wheeler (2009) is also up for best hitter in Double A.

Feel free to cast away for them, too. I believe the site allows you to cast up to 25 votes, if you are so inclined.

Thanks to Ken for passing that along. And thanks again to all the Tri-City Dust Devils for a memorable 2011 season.
