Happy to report the Ams beat the Portland Winterhawks 5-4 in a shootout Saturday afternoon. Shinny scored the goal in the shootout to put the Ams at 2-0 in the preseason.
Swedish forward Malte Strömwall scored his first goal and Justin Feser had a goal and two assists. I've discovered that Kennewick High School has a Swedish exchange student and I may be able to get some help in the future when I need more than a couple of quotes.
Tri-City has 31 guys on its roster and some of the young ones will be going home after the Red Lion Tournament this weekend at Toyota Center. The Ams still have five 20s and two will have to go. Shinny was the only one to play both games this weekend.
On a shopping note, I made my first trip to Harbor Freight in Richland on Saturday. Smelled like plastic. Not as big as I thought it would be, but the store makes good use of space for everything from awls to zip ties. Scott had to get new horns for his hockey helmet. He donated last year's to the Carson Kolzig Foundation and had to start over from scratch.
