Vandals gets another ex-Coug on football staff

Much like the Tennessee Titans have become the TennesSea Titans thanks to the recent influx of former Seahawks, the Idaho Vandals seemingly have morphed into the Idaho VanCougs (Cougals?).

Earlier this summer, Idaho football coach Robb Akey got former Washington State quarterback Jason Gesser to eschew an off-field gig with the Cougars to become the Vandals' running backs coach. Now, Akey — a former WSU assistant himself — has scored another ex-Coug for his staff.

Torey Hunter, who played for WSU from 1991-94, will be the Vandals' cornerbacks coach. He had been on Eastern Washington's staff since 2008. The pinnacle of his EWU career came last season, when he guided the Eagles' secondary during the team's Football Championship Subdivision title campaign.

Good thoughts going out to former WSU baseball coach Bobo Brayton, who was injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident Tuesday. An update on his condition can be found here. Brayton, 85, is the grandfather of Pasco High School graduate and NFL free agent Tyler Brayton.

Baseball America reports WSU pitcher Adam Conley has agreed to terms with the Florida Marlins on a $625,000 bonus. No confirmation out of the Marlins' camp yet.
